Where domestic concrete earns its place
Driveways
The most common domestic pour we do. C25 with a properly compacted 100mm hardcore sub-base and correctly placed joints outlasts a stronger mix laid on poor ground.
Extension and shed footings
The volume is never quite what the drawing says once the trench is dug. Order at your estimate and we mix more if the ground takes it — no second delivery charge.
Garden bases and patios
Jobs of one or two cubic metres that a full drum load makes uneconomic. There is no full-load minimum, so a small pour is a normal booking.

Most domestic customers overpay by buying a full load and pouring part of it.

The things customers ask us most about domestic concrete.
How much does a concrete driveway cost?
The concrete itself is generally the smaller part. Our 2025 cost guide puts C20 at roughly £90–£120 per m³, and a typical driveway slab at 100mm uses about 0.1m³ per square metre — so a 40m² drive is roughly 4m³ of concrete. Excavation, hardcore sub-base, edging, reinforcement and labour usually add up to more than the mix. Call 0800 001 6147 and we will price the concrete accurately for your measurements.
What grade of concrete do I need for a driveway?
C20 is adequate for light vehicle traffic, but C25 is the better choice for most UK residential driveways because it resists cracking better over time. A well-compacted sub-base of at least 100mm of hardcore matters at least as much as the grade — most driveway failures are ground failures, not concrete failures.
How much concrete do I need for a shed base?
Multiply length by width by depth in metres. A 3m × 2m base at 100mm is 0.6m³. Standard advice is to add 5–10% for spillage and uneven ground; with metered supply you can order at your figure and top up if the ground takes more. Our concrete calculator will do the sum for you.
Is there a minimum order for domestic concrete?
No. The mixer batches what your job takes and meters it, which is the whole point for small work. You are not choosing between a full drum load and mixing it yourself in a barrow.
Can the mixer get to my driveway?
Usually. The truck mixes at the point of pour, so it needs reasonable access to get close to the job. Where it cannot, a line pump moves concrete through hose into back gardens and restricted sites. Tell us about the access when you call and we will tell you which you need.
