How much does a concrete line pump cost to hire?
Line pumps are normally priced on time on site and hose run, with the concrete billed separately. The fair comparison is not against pouring straight from the chute — it is against the labour of barrowing the same volume down the side of a house, which for anything above a metre or two is usually more expensive and much slower. Call 0800 001 6147 with the distance and volume.
How far can a line pump move concrete?
A long way — well beyond what barrowing is practical for. The real limits are the total hose run, the number of bends and any rise along the route, all of which affect pumping pressure. Tell us the route when you book so we bring the right pump and enough hose.
Can you pump concrete into a back garden?
Yes, that is the most common line-pump job we do. The truck stays on the road, the hose runs down the side of the house or through it, and the concrete is placed where the gang needs it. On terraced streets across Leeds, Bradford and Manchester there is often no other route at all.
Does concrete need a special mix to be pumped?
It needs the right workability — too stiff and it will not pump, too wet and you compromise strength. Because we batch on site we mix for the pump rather than trying to pump whatever a wagon happened to bring. Tell us it is a pumped pour when you book.
Line pump or boom pump?
Line pump if the obstacle is distance through a narrow route at ground level — back gardens, basements, side accesses. Boom pump if the obstacle is height or something you have to go over, such as an upper-floor slab or an existing building.
